About PC

PC (Polycarbonate) is an amorphous engineering thermoplastic that is clear, highly impact-resistant, and fairly heat-resistant. Its recycling code is number 7 ("other"), and it is usually marked >PC< on products.
PC is commonly used for lenses and lamp covers, face and helmet shields, roofing sheet, electronic casings, and PC/ABS blends. For recycled PC, common uses are engineering components and non-food products. Buyers usually evaluate MFI (typically at 300 °C / 1.2 kg), clarity or yellowness index, moisture content, contaminants (PET, PVC, PMMA/acrylic, ABS, labels, metal), and black specks.
PC absorbs moisture and hydrolyzes easily when melted while damp, making the result brittle. That is why PC must be dried before processing; general guide: about 120 °C with a desiccant dryer until the moisture content is very low. Suitability for a specific application depends on the material specification and your requirements, so test with a sample and discuss it with our team.
