About PS
General information
This section gives general information about the material, not YJP product specifications.
PS (Polystyrene) is a thermoplastic made from styrene monomer, with recycling code number 6. Its two main types are GPPS (general-purpose polystyrene), which is clear, rigid, but brittle, and HIPS, which is rubber-modified, so it is more impact-resistant and usually not clear. Styrofoam is foamed PS (EPS), different from solid PS granules.
PS is commonly used for packaging and containers, stationery, household goods, and injection components. For recycled PS, common uses are non-food products such as stationery, frames, hangers, and decorative products. Buyers usually evaluate MFI, clarity or color, other plastic contaminants, black specks, flake size, bromine content, and odor.
PS is brittle and absorbs little water, so it should be stored dry. Suitability for a specific application depends on the material specification and your requirements, so please discuss it with our team first.
